Mate Monster: Lawnmower mate (3)
By now, lawnmowing your way towards mate is a piece of cake. So, we will make it a bit more difficult. This time, your opponent still has one other piece to help his king. Watch out, mate monster!
The example shows what you need to pay attention to.
What do you have to do?
Deliver a lawnmower mate. Try to figure out what moves your opponent can make and move your pieces to safe squares.
White has two rooks on the 7th rank.
One can do the job of keeping the king fenced off. The other can move to the 8th rank to mate the king.
But White must be careful.
Moving the left rook (red arrow) is not good. Black’s knight will take it.
White has to move the other rook to the 8th rank: checkmate!
